Exploring the Art of Kimono Design: Celebrating the Beauty of Diversity and Storytelling through Fashion

Fashion students were in for a treat yesterday afternoon as they had the opportunity to visit a traditional kimono shop! The shop was filled with an array of stunning kimonos (some from the 1800s!), each with intricate designs, delicate fabrics, and vibrant colors.

Seminar instructor, samantha, shared the historical and cultural significance of kimono, shedding light on the deep-rooted traditions, customs, and rich heritage associated with the attire.

In addition to the immersive experience, students unleashed their own creativity and designed and sketched their own kimonos! Using colored pencils, markers, and sketchbooks, students took their inspiration from the shop (and their new purchases!) and sketched out designs of their own.
