Museums, Sushi, and Shopping

This post features student writing.

Today I went to the Tokyo National museum in Ueno. The exhibitions there were of scrolls, letters, and various works of art, the museum showcased the history of Japan.

Each time period was highlighted and that included the Azuchi-Momoyama Period, the Edo Period, the Sho Dynasty, the Nara Period, and more. After seeing the vivid exhibits, we analyzed the writing in each era and pointed out the differences; thus further pushing my understanding of Japanese language and its origins to a higher level.

Later, we went shopping and I got to indulge in Japanese fashion. We also went to an arcade, which ended up getting very overwhelming with excitement (in a good way) especially when people started winning games.

Finally, I got to go to conveyor belt sushi, a sushi restaurant where the food comes around on a conveyor belt and you take the plates of food that you want. It was really tasty!

So to make a conclusion, if you subtract the summer heat, this day in Japan was a phenomenal one, but of course this comes as no shock or revelation, because it’s literally Japan!
